Snow Day

Wow, it's been ages since I've written an actual post that isn't about the Blog Meet Up.  I've had so much going on in the last couple of months that I decided to leave blogging to one side to concentrate on other things.  I've got a new part-time job which I LOVE.  I've started a course in Business Admin to coincide with 'my other job'. Then Xmas hit.  And then I was ill! But I feel like I've managed to get everything under control and into some kind of routine.

Oh and I thought seeing as I'm organising a Bloggers Meet Up I'd better start blogging again!!

Anyway in other news it's been snowing!!!  And I had the day off work, which meant I got to play in the snow.  YAY! You're never too old right?  Here's a few pics for those who didn't get any snow........

NW Blogger Meet Up (change of date)

Ok my lovelies,

When I decided to organise the bloggers meet up I didn't imagine for one minute there'd be such a massive response!

I've been overwhelmed by the amout of people who want to get involved and by this I don't just mean bloggers.

I originally intended for us to meet on a Saturday and browse the shops, etc but things have snowballed and as there are so many of us I thought it might be best to move it to a Sunday and let the shops come to us!!

Spout Coffee Shop based at 70 The Passion Pit, where I work part-time, are keen to meet all you lovely bloggers and they've helped me put together a very special day for us all.

The Wig Factory on the first floor have offered a free blow dry or updo for anyone interested or alternatively if there's a particular style you'd like to learn how to do such as pincurls, etc let me know.  I'm sure one of the staff will show you how it's done.

If hair isn't your thing and beauty is where you're at then head upstairs to The Pamper Pit on the second floor where beauty workshops will be taking place.  Looking for something specific?  Head massage, skin care, let me know and I'll see what can be done.

If neither of those tick your boxes then Jessica Shaw clothes designer who recently exhibited at The Clothes Show, is looking forward to meeting you and talking all things fashion!

And finally if none of that floats your boat well there's awesome coffee, tea and homemade cakes but most importantly there's blogging!!  I for one am really looking forward to meeting everyone.

So, if you could all please leave a comment like the one below and let me know if you can make the following date.............Sunday 3rd February  12 - 4pm

1. Yes or No
2. Leave your email address
3. Is there anything specific you would like to learn at The Wig Factory or The Pamper Pit?

Hope you can all make it.

There's a Detective in Town

Recently I'd arranged to have a girly weekend in London with one of my closest friends.  We've known each other for 23 years.  Long time eh.  Due to us now living in different parts of the country and both having fellas we don't get to spend much time together without the boyfriends in tow.  This particular weekend though we ditched our fellas and headed into London Town.  Wooo let the excitement commence.

We had an awesome day out.  We drank Raspberry Martinis, ate tapas, people watched from street side restaurants and chatted our hearts out.

We then headed over to the V&A where we were lucky enough to get tickets for the Hollywood Exhibition.  To say I was excited was an understatement!  This is a must see exhibition.  Where else can you see Marilyn Monroe's infamous white dress and Dorothy's ruby red slippers?  There were so many more iconic outfits from films such as The Blues Brothers, Chicago, Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Elizabeth, etc the list is endless.  What I loved most about this exhibition was how the V&A went to so much effort to describe the relationship between the characters, costume designer and director.  It certainly makes me appreciate a characters outfit a lot more.  If you going into London head over to the exhibition but make sure you books tickets in advance, they're selling out quick!

After the exhibition we felt a drink was in order.  We'd heard about a very special bar off Earls Court Road where all was not as it seemed.  Let me introduce you to the Evans & Peel Detective Agency.

Off Earls Court Road down a side street is a locked black door, lit by an overhead lantern.  People are hovering around outside waiting to get in.  The sign on the door reads 'Evans & Peel Detective Agency'.

Eventually the door opens and a woman dressed in a 1920's outfit looks us up and down and asks about our 'case'.  We tell her we are looking to acquire some drinks and she finally agrees to let us in.............

* * SPOILER ALERT * *

Now if you're the kind of person who goes to London a lot and are considering going to this bar, stop reading!  The element of surprise was one of the many things I loved about this place.

After the door was locked and bolted behind us we were taken down the winding stairs into the 'office'.  Here we were interrogated about our case.  When we told her we were just looking for a drink she rolled her eyes and quipped 'you do realise this is a detective agency don't you?' and so the role play began.  After much hilarity and dodgy acting on our part she finally agreed we could go through to the bar.  She handed us our case files, which were actually menus and pushed open the bookcase, which of course was actually door through to the bar!

We sat at the bar and took it all in.  The 1920's decor, the blues playing in the background, the beer which is poured through a radiator, the cocktails served in china cups and the fabulous staff make this place.  I loved everything about it.  Ok so prices weren't cheap at £10 a cocktail but I have to say it was worth every penny for it the overall experience.

So next time you're in London and you feel there's a case to be solved head over to Evans & Peel Detective Agency for an experience you wont forget!

What have you been up to lately?  Have you been to anywhere as random as Evans & Peel?

North West Blogger Meet Up

Recently I sent a few tweets out regarding a Blogger Meet Up in the North West Midlands.  It seems that quite a lot of you are really interested so I thought I'd try and pin point a date where as many of us are free as possible.  I'm thinking sometime in January would be best.  We're all gonna be busy leading up to Christmas and this way it gives us something to look forward to when the January blues kick in.

Location:
Leek, Staffordshire (20 Minutes from Stoke, Buxton and Macclesfield)

Date:
Either 12th January or 26th January

If you could leave a comment letting me know which date you can make (either or both) and the name of your blog I'll have a better idea if these dates are realistic.  Everyone is welcome, near and far and if you're concerned about travel just let me know via a comment below and I'm sure we'll be able to help arrange something.
