Hello Shellac

Now, any one of my friends will tell you I'm not a girly girl.   I've never had the time or the funds for that matter to take myself off to the salon every week.   My daily make up routine consists of foundation, topliner and mascara and then I'm outta the house quicker than you can say lipgloss.  Less is more I keep telling myself.  Although I have an inclination it's more likely to do with the fact that make up is not my friend!  It has a tendency not to stay put!

However, with my birthday coming up I decided a treat was in order.  So I took myself off to the salon and got myself shellacked.  For those of you who don't know what Shellac is let me demystify you.  It's nail varnish with a difference.  It lasts for around 2 weeks!  No nasty acrylics that wreck your nails (no offense acrylic fans).  Just a special varnish that dries under a UV light.  It's dry in seconds!  Doesn't smudge, doesn't budge, ladies this stuff is the dogs doo dahs.   Perfect for someone like me who really cannot be arsed to paint her nails every 2 days.   This is revelation I tell you!  It's up there with Sky plus!  I now constantly walk around with my hands in front of my face, a bit like a mime artist, admiring my nails.  My super shiny bullet proof nails.

I have a feeling Shellac may have released the inner girly girl inside of me, EEEK this may not be good for my bank balance...............

London Loves

Ok so after a few very down weeks I am really excited about going to back home to London this weekend.  Being a Londoner you kinda take the sights for granted.  It's not until you live 'oop north' that you realise how much there is to do in London and as much as I like the market town and surrounding countryside we live in, I do miss the hustle and bustle and general quirkiness you get from the city.

Anyway seeing as we only have 2 days in London I've decided to do the whole touristy thing.  First stop has to be the Marylin Monroe exhibition at Getty Images Gallery.  An absolute icon, I can't wait to see some of the unique photos they have displayed not to mention clothes she wore on/off screen.
After that a trip to Camden Market is in order.  I haven't been there for years and I have a feeling I'll be making some kind of purchase.  Lets hope it's not fusica pink stargazer hair dye like the last time!  I'd like to think I've changed a little in the last 15 years!!  Roll on the weekend.

Tatty Bye for now

A Dedication

I would like to dedicate my first blog to my step-mum.  She sadly passed away just 3 weeks ago after battling breast cancer for the second time in 5 years.  She was an amazing person, an inspiration to many working right up until the week she died.  She always managed to smile and laugh even though she was in so much pain.

Berni was like a whirlwind and never put things off.  If there's one thing she taught me it's to grab life by both hands and to live your life instead of just exisiting.   So this is for your Berni, forever smiling.
