Camera Envy

It's not long until I go on holiday and apart from fretting about what to pack I've also been worried about taking my 'big' camera.  You see, I said goodbye to my compact camera a couple of years ago, (there was a sticky incident with a melted chocolate bar and the shutter) and now the only camera I have is my DSLR and the camera on my S3.

The problem is I don't really want to take my DSLR.  It's heavy, expensive and the beach would be a no go area for me.  There's no way I'm risking sand coming anywhere near my kit. The camera on my phone is good but not amazing quality plus I don't wanna drain my battery. I'm the kinda person who literally takes hundreds of photos. Per day! And then annoys everyone by sharing them all on Facebook haha.

I've been meaning to look into the different compact cameras available but it's been at the bottom of a very long to do list.

Then as if someone read my mind I was asked to share a video on my blog.  I bet you thought I was going to say I was gifted a camera!  Pfftttttt I wish!  The video was however about the Panasonic TZ40 which I have now spent a lot of time drooling over.  Yep this is a sponsored post but please forgive me and read on.

I did a bit of research into camera and I have to say the features are jaw dropping.  I have serious camera envy.  As well as 18.1 megapixels, touchscreen, HD recording, 20x super zoom, creative functions, etc it also boasts a full range of manual modes, GPS, WiFi and NFC chip.  Sharing your photos couldn't be simpler .  You can read a full review at Techradar but if you can't be bothered all you need to know is they scored this camera 4.5 / 5.  I would say that's pretty good!

What camera are you currently using and what kind would you take on holiday?

  1. I take my DSLR (Canon 6D)with me to most places. I go for tiny 40mm pancake lens (as opposed to big pricey heavy kit lens) when I need something lighter, less eye catching etc. I just don't have a compact. Though there are many great ones available. I also have an iPhone I use a lot, but they battery drains super fast. xx

  2. I've just bought a new camera - I blogged about it last week - A Fugifilm Finepix S4500. It's meant to be a halfway house between a compact and a DSLR with 16 megapixels and a 30 x zoom. I'm still getting to grips with it but the picture quality / clarity is way better than my compact/iphone and at @£100 I don't feel quite as precious about losing/damaging it. Obvs I'm being careful but i took it to the beach last week...X

  3. I'm exactly the same, I take hundreds of photos (per day) and I love the quality of the DSLR. I was having the problem of not wanting to take the big camera out to certain places, mainly for the bulk of it and for the fact that I don't always need super quality photos. I was a lucky girl and I chose the more compact camera that I wanted, and my mum and boyfriend got it for me last year for my birthday. I didn't quite want to go to a compact camera, so I opted for a bridge camera. I have Nikon J1 and I absolutely love it - it's amazing at taking photos without flash on, and in any kind of lighting. The quality is great, and the video is amazing too. This way I still have a few lenses to choose from, but the camera is a lot less bulky and 'precious' (though it is still kind of precious haha, what camera isn't :)) xx

  4. I take my dSLR everywhere with me. On the one hand, it's a bit of a nuisance, especially when airlines impose weight restrictions on hand luggage (thankfully a rare few!); but on the other hand, nothing else I own produces pictures of the quality that I've gotten used to. It's a constant battle for me!

How cute is that advert though? I'm tempted by the camera just because of their creativity!
