Chim Chim Cheree

Whilst browsing through a local market last weekend I came across a framed vinyl cover of the musical Mary Poppins.  Instantly I had a childhood flashback, not because I used to have the same vinyl album - I'm not that old (!) but because I used to love this film, even though it was made nearly 20 years before I was born!

There was something about it. Maybe it was the cheery songs, the Edwardian costumes and the uncertainty about Mary Poppins.  Who was she? Where did she come from? Together with a sentimental storyline that made me want to watch this film over and over again!

It got me thinking about the other favourite films I used to watch when I was a kid.  I realised quite a few of them were musicals, which is funny considering I thought I hated musicals!  I can remember exactly where I was the first time I watched each film so they must have made an impact.  I also seem to remember my mum not best pleased to discover I'd watched Dirty Dancing! Haha ooops!

So, here are my top favourite childhood movies, which even at the grand old age of 32 I could quite happily curl up on the sofa right now and lip sync the whole way through.

You gotta love Disney, right?

Childhood adventure at it's finest.

I blame both these films for the dodgy dance moves I seem to have acquired!

What were your favourite films as a kid?

Why I Blog

Someone asked me recently why I blogged.  Everyone's got a reason haven't they?

Well here's mine..................

I'd heard of blogging years ago, it's not exactly a new thing but now it seems more common place, even a lot of companies seem to have a blog even if it's not maintained on a regular basis.

One of my closest friends relocated down to Hampshire.  I was pretty gutted to say the least! We spent a lot of time on the phone chatting when one night my friend told me she wanted to start a blog but wasn't sure how.  Just because we were now hundreds of miles apart wasn't going to stop me from helping out a friend so I created my own blog to see how it was done.  Many a night was spent on the phone talking about blog names to html codes and gadgets.  Sometimes it was like speaking another language! Finally our blogs were born.  And although our styles are completely different I love the fact we created our blogs together and haven't let the miles affect our friendship.

If you get a chance pop over to her blog (click here) and take a look.  She's a fantastic writer and I'm not just saying that because I'm biased, hehe.

Everyone's got a reason as to why they blog and how it all started.  What's yours?  I'd love to hear your story. x

North West Blogger Meet Up

Recently I sent a few tweets out regarding a Blogger Meet Up in the North West Midlands.  It seems that quite a lot of you are really interested so I thought I'd try and pin point a date where as many of us are free as possible.  I'm thinking sometime in January would be best.  We're all gonna be busy leading up to Christmas and this way it gives us something to look forward to when the January blues kick in.

Location:
Leek, Staffordshire (20 Minutes from Stoke, Buxton and Macclesfield)

Date:
Either 12th January or 26th January

If you could leave a comment letting me know which date you can make (either or both) and the name of your blog I'll have a better idea if these dates are realistic.  Everyone is welcome, near and far and if you're concerned about travel just let me know via a comment below and I'm sure we'll be able to help arrange something.
